You Know You're Addicted to Internet When...
You Know You're Addicted to Internet When... |
You kiss you girlfriend's home page. Your bookmarks list takes 15 minutes to scroll from top to bottom. Your eyeglasses have a web site burned into them. You find yourself brainstorming for new subjects to Google. You refuse to go to a vacation spot with no electricity and no phone lines. You finally do take that vacation, but only after buying a cellular modem and a laptop. You spend half of the plane trip with your laptop on your lap.... and your kid in the overhead compartment. Your dreams are in HTML. You find yourself typing "com" after every period when using a word processor. You turn your computer off and get this awful epmty feeling, like you just pulled the plug of your loved one. You refer to going to the bathroom as downloading. You start introducing yourself as "Jim at I-I-Net dot net dot au" Your heart races faster and beats irredgularly each time you see a new WWW site address printed on the TV, even though you've never had heart problems before. You step out of the room and realize that your roomates have moved and you don't have any idea when it happened. You turn up the volume read loud when leaving the room so you can hear if anyone IM's you. You wife drapes a blond wig over the monitor to remind you of what she looks like. All of your friends have an @ in their names. Looking at a pageful of someone else's links, you notice that you've been to all of them. Your dog has its own webpage. You believe nothing looks sexier than a man in boxer shorts illuminated by a 17" LCD Flat-Panel Monitor. You check your mail. It says "no new messages." So you check it again. You code your homework in HTML and give your intsructor the URL. You don't know what sex your three of your closeset friends are, because they have nuetral screennames and you never bothered to ask. You name your children Google, Friendster and Blogger You miss more than five meals a week downloading the latest MP3's off Kazaa Lite. You start looking for hot HTML addresses in public restrooms. You wake up at 3 a.m. to go to the bathroom and stop and check your e-mail on the way back. Your virtual girlfriend finds a new sweetheart with a larger bandwidth. You buy a Captain Kirk Chair with a built in keyboard and mouse. Your wife makes a new rule: "The computer can not come to bed" The last hottie you picked up was only a jpeg. You put a pillow case over your laptop so your lover doesn't see it while youre pretending to catch your breath. You ask a plumber how much it would cost you to replace the chair in front of your computer with a toilet. You forget what year it is. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. You ask a doctor to implant a terrabyte in your brain. Your sweetie says communication is important in a marriage...so you buy another computer and network them together so that you can IM each other anytime. As your car crashes through the guardrail on a mountain road, your first instinct is to search for the "back" button. All of your friends have an @ in their names. You start using smileys in your snail mail You bring a bag lunch to the computer. You have withdrawals if you are away from the computer for more than a few hours. You take a speed reading course to keep up with the scrolling. You type faster than you think. You double click your TV remote. You can now type over 70 WPM. You check your e-mail and forget you have real mail. You go into withdrawals during dinner. You rank your friends by the amount of bandwith they have. You have "Googled" all your friends to try to find out anything interesteing that they are not telling you and you can use against them later. You message someone via IM when they are less than 20 feet away. The sound of the keys clicking turns you on. You have more browsers than friends in the real world. You actually say I-M-O and A-T-M to real friends rather than 'in my opinion' and 'at the moment'. And they give you strange looks. You run four chat programs all at once... Yahoo Messenger, ICQ, AIM and MSN You sign off and your screen says you were on for 3 days and 45 minutes. You purchase a vanity car license plate with your screen name on it. You say "he he he he" or "heh heh heh" instead of laughing. You talk on the phone with the same person you are sending an instant message to. You get up in the morning and go online before getting your coffee. Your teacher or boss recommends a drug test for the blood shot eyes. The letters have come off your keyboard from excessive use. You order pizza online - because you can't be bothered to call. You say "SCROLL UP" when someone asks what it was you said. You look at an annoying person off line and wish that you had your ignore button handy. You enter a room and get greeted by 25 people with {{{hugs}}} and ** kisses**. You're on the phone and say BRB. The last movie you've seen was on your Quicktime player. You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends who are addicted to the internet. |
this is cute!

Two Left Feet
Starting off, with stretching, I perspired already. Stretching exercises, stretching again… Geez, I told myself: “aren’t we going to dance yet??? Seems like he heard my mental outburst, he then played his CD and there goes the beat. We started off with the basic steps. Boy, oh boy! I couldn’t follow the beat and the steps! I was looking at Abi (too much focused with her steps and gracefully getting on with the beat) with a wide grin on my face thinking: I got two left feet now?? Pity. So after minutes of erroneous and unfitting dance steps, I finally got it. And hey, I can follow the beat already!
It’s a good thing I didn’t expect thing such as hip-hop dancing otherwise I would look like a clown there. Lol. The dance class was sort of belly dancing and Latin American dancing, so it’s kind of cool! I just hope that next time I post something about my dance class. It’s not about having two left feet anymore. I feel like that puppy I posted while was dancing. Still cute, eh?

Christmas Gift Ideas
The Cybershot DSC-P71 Digital Camera
The Cybershot DSC-P71 takes all the technology and ingenuity that made its predecessors great and adds to that an even more impressive zoom and the great-looking, compact design that makes the Sony Cybershot family the choice of savvy photo enthusiasts all over the world. Clip Motion Mode captures up to ten 160x120 or two 80x72 frames and creates a GIF animation. Low light is no match for the DSC-P71. Neither is motion. The DSC-P71 takes it all on and delivers the most stunning digital images you've ever seen, hands down. Let the digital fun begin! Hmm... sure it's one Christmas treat!
Ipod Nano
When Apple released the iPod, they created the standard for
portable digital music players. Following the tradition of iPod, they raised
the bar even higher. So how do I describe iPod Nano? Love at first sight!
It’s stylish, sleek, super slim, new click wheel, with games, and jet black
casing, no wonder Steve Jobs wasn’t kidding… it’s really the next big thing!
If only I could swipe it I would, too bad I forgot I don’t have any credit card.
One more thing, it fits well in pockets- even the tightest jeans won’t show
any embarrassing bulges. But for every love at first sight, there’s also
getting-to-know part, right? So I’ll give
you some of its boasting key features:
Dimensions: 3.5” tall, 1.6 “wide, 0.25” wide.. imagine that!!! Innovative click wheels for easy navigation
Rich sound
15 hours of continuous playback
skip free protected
colored LCD
super portable
automatically synchronizes music, playlists, and audiobooks with Mac or Pc
now works with Outlook too
Sounds like an ideal date, huh? Although it’s almost perfect when it comes with the style and performance, the iPod nano flawed on the part where you can’t swap a new pack of battery in case it runs out. Yes dear, you just have to recharge it. It doesn’t come up with spare battery because Apple wants it seamless perfect. And watch out for your fingerprints too after you peel off the plastic skin of your new baby, it’ll be a bit smudgy but just a wipe with your shirt will be alright. And back to being flashy again.
Sony PSP or Nintendo Gameboy DS?
Both systems are wireless and features potential connectivity with various devices, and at E3 neither the Nintendo DS or PSP managed to outshine each other in this department. Price, too…neither Nintendo nor Sony were willing to show their hands here, but obviously the less expensive they are, the better it is for us. And in all honesty, looking at both systems, Nintendo will have the edge with a much more affordable and aggressive pricepoint
Based on the attention and web news frency, last weeks top news was clearly the announcement of the Nintendo DS portable Game Console. Not much is known so far, but from what we can imply it would be surprising if it would be competing with the pre-announced Sony PSP. The Sony PSP is attractive to a new group of demographic that the Nintendo Gameboy is not reaching - 20 to 35 year olds. To be attractive to that target group the portable game console needs to be small, cool clean design, high performance and of course good games. The Two screens of the Nintendo implies a bulky device, unless they have a very smart design. It was said on the interview that the screens are vertically arranged. My son just loved PSP, his classmates got both Nintendo Gameboy DS and PSP. I put my bet on PSP... how about you?
Friends -- The Complete First Seven Seasons
Adored. That how you'll feel if you give this as a Christmas present to your love one. Not mentioning how much it's worth... you will surely rock!
PIONEER DVR-310-S
Pioneer was responsible for one of the first DVD-RW recorders. But since that impressive early start, the company has ignored digital recording elsewhere, while being one of the major players in Japan. Now it's back - and this newbie is the cheapest of a fresh brace of decks.
It looks like an all-new design too, with an unusual off-center disc drawer and quirky styling like we like. Build quality is decent, instant recording is also only a single button-press away, and the Easy Time Recording is just as easy.
Cheap it may be, but this model has most of the key features that we'd want in a DVD recorder. For recordings you want to share, the 3100 also records onto the more compatible DVD-R format. Whatever you choose, copies are first-class --- especiallly at the higher bit rates. Movies sound great-dialogue is particularly natural- and the performance with CDs and music will pass muster with most casual listeners. Still, this is an impressive recorder in a smart package from a big name looking to reassert itself in the digital recorder world.
KEY FEATURES:
- Records onto DVD-R/RW
- Plays DVD-R/RW, DVD Video, VCD, WMA/MP3/JPEG DC-R/RW
- Supports DTS, Dolby DigitalDimensions: 420 x 69 x 341mmWeight: 4.3 kg
- fine (60 minutes), SP (120 mins), LP (240 mins), EP (360 mins) recording modes
If Santa would be generous enough...
I am about to pop my Martini cork with excitement over these very cool stuff!

Christmas in the Philippines
Christmas is one of the most merriest and celebrated occasions in the Philippines. It’s the time where you would see how we Filipinos embrace our traditions. Starting off with the abundance of Filipino Christmas ornaments such as bright and colorful bamboo parol (star lanterns) and beautiful lights, Christmas stockings, and pine trees in most of the houses- even the simplest and smallest house has at least one to feel the Christmas spirit, lovely. It is also practiced and believed that attending the 9-day pre-dawn mass or Simbang Gabi (Misa de Gallo) at the church would make your wish come true on the year to come. Wanna try getting up four o’ clock in the morning for nine consecutive days of pre-dawn mass? It’s fun.
Dine in the Filipino Way
Christmas eve in the here in the Philippines is celebrated after attending the Misa de Gallo, where as its a night without sleep celebrating Jesus' birthday. I would say, the table is in abundant of Filipino traditional food such as;
Puto bumbong
Bibingka
Arrozcaldo with pork and tofu (Chicken rice soup)
Lechon (Pan-fried roast pork)
Suman (cooked with rice and rolled in sugar)
Kare-kare (oxtail stew with peanut butter sauce)
Okoy (shrimp with squash snack)
Hot Chocolate
Salabat (ginger tea)
Rellenong Bangus (Baked stuffed milkfish)
Sliced Bread
Barbeque
Adobo (pork or chicken)
Lumpia (spring rolls)
Pancit
Did I miss a thing? oh, and pasta. My family just loved my pasta when I cook it for them. It only happens once in a blue moon. ;-) Most of us also served cakes be it native or western style. Afterall, Filipino Christmas tradition is a combined western and native. I almost forgot to mention above is the Philippines' famous San Miguel Beer, gin and all sort of liquors are also part of the Christmas tradition. The celebration continues until about 6 o' clock in the morning. Very intoxicating huh? But sure is a filipino way!
Some families may choose to exchange gifts at this time; others wait until Christmas day. My kids used to open their presents on Christmas Eve. My daughter, Kitty, already wrote a letter to "Santa" I think three weeks ago or so. She is way too excited to see what's in store for her. Same as with western countries, yes, however, there is no snow here. But that's okay.
Generally, what we do on Christmas day is attend Mass in the morning and then wait for the rest of the family from afar to come and celebrate with us. So then, we'll all gather and eat and be merry. Kids will get to do the "Mano Po" gestures (somekind of showing respect to the elders) and in return, they usually get candies, money or presents. A day of family gathering, closeness and sharing, wishing everyone joy and good year to come.
Monday, November 21, 2005
It was Sunday when we watched Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. Family day to most of the Filipinos, in short, the mall is way too crowded. Oh no! Even if I wanted to back out, it’s not possible otherwise these kids would be furious as hell. ;-)
Whenever going to the cinemas, my kids and I could never be late (except on that of school stuff). Lack of discipline I know but I’m trying my best here… after all, watching movies is really amusing and relaxing. As expected, there were too many people on the ticket booth. I rushed towards the booth and asked for tickets. To my surprise, the screening time was fifteen minutes earlier than their usual schedule and a sign “ALL SEATS TAKEN” was placed on the box-office, we’ve got no choice but to endure the grueling pain of standing inside the theater. Plus the ticket was much costly than the other regular movies.. what the heck! Rushing inside the theater, I spotted a good place, not to stand, but to sit on with the kids. Ooh, that’s much better. Nice spot, coke and junk’s ready.. just fifteen minutes late. That's okay.
I must say, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire surely is oozing with great special effects and artistic values. I find myself ooohing when Victor Krumm first showed up ... "wicked"! The humour kicks on time too plus the trio's acting improved. Not to mention the fact that they've really grown up. My kids just love Ron Weasley because he's funny especially the part when Harry and him were talking at Professor Snape's class. I won't go over the details for those who haven't seen it yet. For it would kill the thrill. Summing it all up, from the triwizard competition to the tests and confusion where Sirius came from. I'd give it a big round of applause. Way to go J.k.!

for those in my friend's list in yahoo! messenger who keep on asking to post my newest pic... here it goes. hope you like it guys!
The Art of Being Weird.....
Tired but restless, I tried to get some sleep today but I couldn't so I grabbed some of my cookies and sit in front of my very reliable friend, my computer. I never thought of posting today instead I searched favorite stuff on my PC-- PICTURES! Of all sorts. I don't know but there's something about every pictures I see... delighting and communicating it seemed! Eventhough I love scanning pictures, i get bored over it. So, I tried finding something more relaxing.. which lead me to browsing my mp3 collections. Ooooh, even delight! Music, an artful arrangement of sounds across time. In the history of human kind, music has been a part of our daily lives.
My friends think that I am weird when I tell them something about music and how I feel. Hmm... let me see, have you ever felt like listening to your favorite song and all of a sudden see yourself like running freely at the hillside? With veil on your head, mind you. Or, imagining you dancing with someone you haven't met yet in a very romantic place? Like that in the movie "My Best Friend's Wedding" or "Kate and Leopold". Was that weird? I think it's just normal for a girl to dream of something she never felt or experienced before. If you may call that weird, then I am weird. Blah! It's one of the things that brings me joy and isolate myself from this world. I'm not crazy, FYI, but when I share things about these to my friends... shakes head and then they say "weird". Ooopsy! Now i'm thinking what's the true meaning of being weird anyways?
Anyway, I have listed some of my favorite songs from my CD Collections.. and see what I think about when I hear them....
Nat King Cole
for someone like me who couldn't afford to buy his CD's before (and until now) what I did was.. chill at Starbucks and listen to his music, for FREE. Oooh, lovely! But that wasn't for long since a large cup of frapuccino thrice a week was not like economy wise. Good thing I have a friend who gave me his original cd and one Frank Sinatra too! He knows I'm such a jazz sucker. True indeed, when it rains, it pours. ;-)
Enya
I first heard her from the soundtrack of the movie "Sweet November" (one of my favorite movies) and I must say, it's so magical, angelic and like a lullaby... definitely the song of the New Age Music aside from my jazz collection cd's. I feel like going to Maximus' time from the Gladiator movie.
Your Body is a Wonderland (John Mayer)
whenever I hear this, I see myself walking in the cold breeze of Baguio City looking for a coffee shop or best bargains at their famous "ukay-ukay" (vintage shop)
The Journey (Lea Salonga)
Philippines' pride, Miss Saigon.. i love listening to her songs cause it brings the memories of my past. Luckily, afterall the things I've been through, I'm still here, smiling and thinking how tough I am. Lol.
Anything weird about it? It's up to you on how you look at it. But for now, I have to go. I will be posting more of my favorite cd collections one of these days... But that's it for today cause my Little Ones have some movie to catch.. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire! Yippeee! Chicken Little, soon I hope. That's a wrap!

One morning...
Today, I woke up 5 minutes before 6:00 am to prepare the kids for school. It's no surprise I didn't nag this morning coz I promised these children to buy them "yoyo's" if they cooperate with me. Like they won't fight over small stuff or they move faster than the usual. So it's a deal then, they behave. Kids! Funny, come to think that Friday is the only day these guys don't get late. Must be Monday to Thursday-sickness effect. Lol. Kissed and waved goodbye as their school service picked them up. That's always a nice day to start with.
So, the kids are at school, it's the moment of deafening silence. Too bad, I didn't hear the pleasant sound of the birds chirping this morning. As I entered our house, it was like a disaster. Toys everywhere, pencils, colors, crumpled papers and worn pj's too. I didn't know what to do first so I sat and suddenly remembered that I have to go to my mom's shop to mind it while she buy some stuff in Manila for the day. Of course, it wouldn't be ME if I didn't forget a single thing in a day. I rushed to be at the shop on time (5 minute walk from my home). And then I saw heaps of like new stalls standing in front of our shop, mmmm... interesting! It would be easier now to reach fruits and vegetables stands, mini groceries, cheap bargains, and what delights me the most is the Philippines' famous "turo-turo" (sort of like a street food, cheap restaurant/carinderia). Mmmm... smells like Christmas spirit! (These stalls are only there until after New Year's, the municipality in my town permitted them)
As soon as I entered our shop, I sat and kept my eyes on the "turo-turo", until I couldn't resist it.. I ordered a cup of coffee, fried rice and sauteed lettuce. Eat and gossip. Num num! *battling eyelashes* What more could I ask for?
Actually, the moral of the story is... like being contented with what you have.. And don't gossip while you eat otherwise, you'll catch yourself being nagged by your mom. ;-)
PS:
The cat has got nothing to with my post today .. I just find it cute to have it there. I think it would be much nicer too if you do what it says otherwise poor puss. Good day!

Everyone's Getting Hitched! YIKES!
Two of my friends (Abie and Wendy) have just announced that they’re ready to exchange vows early next year. However, Sharlyn, is still in the stage whereat she’s having her second thoughts on whether to accept her boyfriend’s proposal to get married this December or not. The announcement though didn’t happen at the same time.
Abie met her boyfriend about six months ago and Wendy recently met her love of her life. They both find their boyfriends online (http://www.filipinofriendfinder.com/) by the way. And after all the excitement, they met and decided to get hitched and stuff. This isn’t just a hormone induced marriage, mind you. It’s pure Love, indeed.
And did you know that the projection will be about 600,000 weddings this year based on Philippine Statistical Yearbook figures, which explains the proliferation of bridal fairs and the fact that every church, hotel and reception venue is booked solid for the next year or two? I would say, Pinay wedding fever is here to stay. ;-)
Here's what I can say: Goodluck and while still single, make the most out of your single life! Way to go, sisters! There's no letting go once you take your wildest oat! ;-)

flicks i like.. my kids too
A cowboy toy, Woody, is profoundly threatened and jealous when a fancy spaceman toy, Buzz Lightyear, supplants him as top toy in a boy's room. They just despise each other like no other. But when they separated away from their home, that's when they knew what the word friendship means.
A family of undercover superheroes, while trying to live the quiet suburban life, are forced into action to save the world.
This is a story about a boy (doubting Santa's existence), when a magical train, guided by Tom Hanks (Hero Boy/Father/Conductor/Hobo/Scrooge/Santa Claus) appears in front of his house on Christmas Eve with some of his disbelieving friends that's headed to the North Pole and Santa Claus's home. This is such a feel-good movie to both young and young at hearts.
When adventurer John Smith and the greedy Governor Ratcliffe come to shore with hopes of finding riches and gold, the young Indian princess is drawn to the handsome Smith, who follows her into the woods. When they meet, it’s love at first sight, and a powerful force brings them together, with language no barrier that can’t be overcome. When Smith is captured by the Indians, and Ratcliffe declares war, Pocahontas must choose which path she will ultimately take in trying to save those she loves
Emperor Kuzco is turned into a llama by his ex-administrator Yzma, and must now regain his throne with the help of Pacha, the gentle llama herder.
I like the role of kronk here, yzma's sidekick. It's absolutely never a dull moment watching this one!
Set during the Ice Age, a sabertooth tiger, a sloth, and a wooly mammoth find a lost human infant, and they try to return him to his tribe.
A father-son underwater adventure featuring Nemo, a boy clownfish, stolen from his coral reef home. His timid father must then search the ocean to find him
A young Inuit hunter seeks vengence against a bear, only to be magically changed into a bear himself, and his only chance to change back is with a talkative bear cub.
A reclusive ogre and a chatterbox donkey go on a quest to rescue a princess for a tyrannical midget lord. I like the character of Donkey here, annoying but very funny indeed. My kids just love, Puss. Especially the part when he plays like
The story, based on ancient Chinese legend, is an intriguing one, effectively challenging traditional male-female (and father-daughter) roles while telling a highly entertaining story. Of course, this version has been "Disney-fied," meaning that it's slightly lighter and more musical than a traditional telling of the story, but fear not, this film is still worth seeing.

another hotspot for you to see
falling in love...
Escaping stress? Take a trip to Southern Palawan- where it will greet you a postcard-like view of sea jeweled by isles of white sand beaches, reefs teeming with oceanic treasures, and fabulous islands nearby. To those who really need a vacation bad and wants to be close to nature, escape a place to place that’ll surely set the mood for affection. Dos Palmas Arraceffi Island Resort is located off the coast of Puerto Princesa, right in the heart of Honda Bay (also one of Philippines’ best beaches).
Dos Palmas Arraceffi Island Resort offers its famous aromatherapy massages, be it stimulating or relaxing. Catch yourself oohing and aahing when you tried one.
Resort packages include full meals so no diets are permitted in the paradise! Me likes!
You can also visit Palawan’s famous Underground River. This tour package offer includes land trip or boat rides to the site.
Try some adrenalin pumping kayaking, island-hopping, windsurfing, bottom-fishing, diving and skinny dipping.
Out of all that, nothing beats a sunset dinner, gazing at the purple-orange horizon over a bottle of wine. Enchanting!

Unspoiled Philippine Destinations
Restaurants, bars, casino, coffee and flower shops are . This town is very safe and has all the facilities that a traveler needs. What I love here is the cool climate and very ideal for picnickers and budget travelers. I’m always looking forward my next visit here. Indeed, it’s captivating.
For water sport lovers there's windsurfing, parasailing, sailboating, water-skiing, scuba diving, snorkling and fishing. If you prefer your activity on land, there's tennis, a golf park and a fully equipped health club and gymnasium with sauna, steam bath and massage room. You can also just laze around the spectacular multilevel swimming pool which has a waterfall, slide and sunken lounge chairs. The private beach cove is a great place to relax and enjoy the sun. You’ll need to ride in a plane though to get there, just an hour away from Manila to have a heavenly escape. I have been here and it’s so breathtaking!
Baguio City
Philippine’s summer capital. At 5,000-feet above sea level, it has a year-round average temperature of 65 degrees C. A place where you can just sit in your hotel room, watch the city lights or stargazing while sipping your coffee, enjoying the cool, fresh pine-scented air. And when you’re in the mood to find some excitement, there you can walk straight at the heart of the city where you could find jazz music along the street, a party place, a park where you could walk along the cool lagoon, dine at their famous steak house, find best buy at some vintage shop and native products, or again, coffee at the mall’s patio or just around the corner. Eddie wants us to live in this place so that he can go Ghost haunting. The man who knows no fear. I say beware of the "ghosts". Boo...
That's a wrap xoxo
